CWAC Consultation

Cheshire West and Chester Council is consulting on the potential enforcement of moving traffic restrictions e.g. one way only, no right turn and weight limits.  Currently, the Police enforce these restrictions in person, but the Government is now giving local authorities the option to apply for powers to enforce moving traffic restrictions using ANPR cameras under a civil enforcement regime.
Cheshire West and Chester Council has not made a decision whether to adopt these powers yet.  However, if the Council were to apply for powers, cameras could be used to enforce moving traffic restrictions at priority locations across the Borough with known road safety and congestion concerns, for the benefit of residents and businesses.  A list of 13 sites are suggested in Chester, Ellesmere Port and Vale Royal.
